Preben trained as a cabinetmaker in Copenhagen, studying under the world-renowned interior designer, Finn Juhl. It was here he met Jørgen Kastholm, with whom he developed the FK chair, an icon in furniture design. Inspired by functionalism as well as staying true to Modernist design principals, both Fabricius and Kastholm were committed to optimising form, use of materials and above all, ergonomics.
