Andersen trained and worked as a cabinetmaker during his 20s, whilst studying Architecture. In his early 30s he opened his own design studio. He was a prolific force in the 1950s and 1960s, with numerous chair and table designs being produced by some of the most desirable Danish manufacturers of the time. Most notably, CFC Silkeborg, Uldum Møbelfabrik, Bernhard Pedersen & Son and Vamo Møbelfabrik.
