Gunni was a third-generation cabinetmaker. His father, Andreas, founded Omann Jun Møbelfabrik in 1933, setting up next door to his own father’s workshop. Gunni designed for the family business during the 1950s through to the 1970s until, with his brother Bjarne, he took over the running of the company. During the 1960s he also collaborated with Axel Christiansen’s factory, ACO Møbler, becoming renowned for beautifully elegant, yet functional credenzas. His timeless designs are amongst the best examples of Mid-Century Modernism
