Translating clean, sharply cut lines from page to furniture, Grete Jalk’s bold but simple approach to furniture-making remains as impressive today as it did during her lifetime. Opening her studio in the 1950s, Jalk is perhaps best known for her laminated plywood furniture, which offers both comfort and easy manufacturability, and for her ability to contort and shape wood into seemingly impossible shapes and positions. Her studio developed designs for some of the most prestigious manufacturers including Poul Jeppesen and France & Son.
