Wørts was born into a family of respected Danish cabinetmakers. After graduating, at the age of just 21, he began designing furniture for his father’s workshop where he established himself as a prominent figure in Danish Modernism. After moving to Sweden in the 1940s, he became a pioneering force in flat-pack furniture design. He is perhaps best known for working for Ingvar Kamprad in the late 50s and early 60s, helping IKEA to establish itself as a serious, pioneering furniture company.
