Sculptor and designer, Plunkett was one of the 20th century’s most celebrated British furniture manufacturers. He predominately worked from his own factory in the 1960s, having a preference to incorporate metal work in his designs. This was a world apart from the carpentry skills adopted by his Danish contemporaries. This gave his furniture longevity and original pieces are as functional now as when they were first made. His projects included furnishing the lounge of the original Queen Elizabeth 2 and many of his bespoke items are still used in high-end UK retail stores today.
